All ages refelct age at time of calendar printing. (Yeah...we're older now, we just don't want to admit it.)
MR. JANUARY: Gary, 47, is a Project Manager for a large Midwest retailer. He is an avid reader and music junkie who enjoys spending time with his sons, Minnesota Twins baseball, cooking, and the Dave Matthews Band.
What a wild ride the Breast Cancer 3 Day is! At one point I wondered if I was going to make it through my 1st event, and now here I am signed up for my 5th. I know that I am very blessed as my Mom is a 6 year survivor. I walk to celebrate her, and for all Moms. Where would we be without them?

I lost my mother to breast cancer at age 62. My two youngest daughters never knew their grandmother. I'm working and walking so that NO little girl needs to grow up without their grandmother.

MR. MARCH: Mike, 37, has been a personal trainer for 9 years and owns his own fitness company. He enjoys seeing his clients and the results that they get in living a healthy and active lifestyle. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his Doberman, his photography hobby, and watching baseball.
I originally walked in 2009 for a cousin who survived Stage 4 breast cancer. I was so shocked while on the walk, learning about how many women this cancer actually affects, that I made it my social cause in life to fight for a cure. I hope that someday, no woman will have to fear this cancer. If you can battle cancer, the least I can do is walk to show you that you don’t have to do this alone and that you will beat this.

MR. APRIL: Dusty, 37, is a humane wildlife trapper who spends his free time catching snakes and spiders in the swamps of Florida. When not in the swamp you may find Dusty in the surf of the Gulf of Mexico in search of anything creepy that crawls or swims. While he swears he is retiring from soccer, Dusty can still be seen on the pitch each weekend.
I first became involved when my former mother-in-law battled breast cancer. Then, while going through some personal challenges, I found that whatever I gave to the breast cancer community was returned to me tenfold. In 2009, to my surprise, my former wife (and close friend) was diagnosed. She set such an example for our two young daughters. With a grandmother and mother as survivors of breast cancer, I walk so that my daughters will never touch the face of breast cancer.

MR. MAY: David, 39, is a police officer from the Midwest. When he isn’t in the kitchen whipping up a gourmet meal, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing and anything that allows him to enjoy the great outdoors.
I walk to honor my mother who is a 28 year survivor and in memory of my “Granny” and Aunt who both passed away after courageous fights. I walk so my children can one day live in a world where breast cancer is a distant memory. The last two years I have laughed with, cheered with, and cried with thousands of incredible people and I will continue to do so until a cure is found. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am passionate about finding a cure for breast cancer and I will do most anything to help find a cure. Until then, I will keep walking, keep cheering and keep laughing.

MR. JULY: Dan, 61, retired twice, after 28 years with the US Navy Reserves and 40 years in the automotive industry and is a trained massage therapist. In the Navy he flew as a radio operator in the P-3 Orion Sub-Hunters and worked an electrician / thermographer at a plant in Romulus Mi. His loves are boating, traveling and riding his motorcycle. After crewing in the San Francisco 3-Day last year, Dan & Karen spent 7 months and 12,000 miles “fulfilling their dream”, seeing the USA in their motor home and on their motorcycles.
My first exposure to the 3-Day was as a Massage Therapist in 2002 and I was hooked. I will continue to do my part as long as I’m able. Another reason, my grandmother was a 25 year survivor which puts my sisters, daughters, and granddaughter in the high risk category and I could not bear the thought of knowing I didn’t do my all to help end Breast Cancer.

MR. AUGUST: Lyle, 43, lives in suburban Chicago, and is a Senior Consultant at an international technology and services company. He co-founded a charitable foundation in memory of his fiancée, and is committed to supporting the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and the Out of the Darkness walk events. Lyle enjoys traveling, the outdoors, puzzles, biking, time with friends and family, and a satisfying glass of red.
I participate in the 3-Day for my late fiancée, Wendy. We walked in two events together to be a part of something larger than ourselves, to raise money so others could beat this disease and so there could be more survivors. I’m part of the 3-Day to help prevent cancer from invading more lives. I participate for the women and men that are battling, for those I have lost, and for those who don’t yet know that they will have to fight. I participate to pass on to thousands of new faces the love and kindness that was passed on to me by thousands of old ones. I participate to support those who don’t think they need help, and those who are too proud to ask for it. I participate to give to others the inspiration that I have been blessed to receive. I participate because the 3-Day inspires me, it challenges me and it gives me hope.

MR. SEPTEMBER: Steve, 42, is an office services manager – running a courier, print and mail operation in Detroit, Michigan. He is also a part-time remodeling contractor. Steve balances his free time between relaxing with his wife and daughter, his own neglected remodeling projects, and outdoor activities like kayaking and mountain-biking.
People usually get involved to honor someone that they’ve lost, and I’m no exception. You wouldn’t think that thousands of people coming together because of their losses could result in so much positive energy – but it does. I’ve been surprised to learn how much I can give – but I’ve been blown away by how much I’ve been given in return. Participating in this cause is really a healing and transformative experience - and it raises millions for research and early detection that saves lives. How cool is that? I can't imagine not doing it. I walk in memory my mother, who lost her fight with lung cancer. I walk in support of my team-mate, who kicked breast cancer’s ass. I walk in hope that my wife and daughter will never have to face that diagnosis.

MR. DECEMBER: Carl, 41, originally a Rhode Island native, discovered the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains and has called Colorado home for the past 11 years. A Human Resources Manager by day, he spends his free time riding the slopes on his snowboard, running and weight training, volunteering with local community program, and – most recently - working on a Masters in Communication degree at the University of Denver.
It wasn’t until a friend at work informed me of her diagnosis that I began to realize how many people are impacted by breast cancer. Once I started paying attention, I learned that several women I know had battled this disease as have all but one of my mother’s friends. Struck by the far-reaching impact of this disease and watching my friend proceed through treatment with incredible courage inspired me to get involved. I participate in honor of those whom we’ve lost to breast cancer, those who have beat it, and for my nieces and future generations – hoping that they come to know a world without breast cancer.
